Our Story

 

At Flames and Scent, we believe in light—both the kind you see and the kind you feel.

Our story began in 2023, during the first year of my Master’s degree. I was a 23-year-old young woman with unwavering trust in God, fueled by faith and a quiet determination to change my circumstances. With no bursary, no stable income, and only a modest monthly grocery allowance from my father, I was determined to build something meaningful.

Inspired by my late mother’s unwavering love/support and the desire to rise above limitation, I began by selling snacks at my university residence. What started as a way to stay afloat soon ignited something deeper—a vision to create a brand that brings comfort, beauty, and purpose into everyday spaces.

Flames and Scent was born from that vision. We offer elegant gel candles sourced from Overseas and luxurious reed diffusers from a trusted South African supplier—combining global quality with local heart.

Each piece is a reflection of resilience, hope, and the belief that no matter how difficult the season, light always finds a way through.
